The Best Christian way to deal with enemies

When David was the king of Israel, one day his own son Absolom rebelled against him and he had to run for his life deserting the kingdom.

On his way, he met one of Saul's relatives called Shimei. This fellow kept on throwing stones after David and cursing him saying,

"Get out !, Get out ! Murderer !, Criminal !  You took Saul's kingdom, and now the Lord is punishing you for murdering so many of Saul's family. (2 Samuel 16:13)

He didn't do it once, but he kept doing it again and again until one of David's officials called Abishai got  annoyed and said,

"Your majesty, why do you let this dog curse you? Let me go over there and cut off his head.!"

But David said no, just leave him.

Some days later, after David running and leaving his throne for his son, Absolom was not yet satisfied, he organised troops and sent them to go and kill David.

News reached David and he hid himself, but his soldiers went and fought and defeated all the soldiers of Absolom and he was killed. He is the guy whose kneck got stuck on the branch of a tree while he was trying to escape. (2 Samuel 18:9)

Afterwards, David was restored to his kingdom.

When David was restored, this very man who was throwing stones and cursing David  came to him and said, "Your majesty, please forget the wrong I did that day you left Jerusalem. Don't hold it against me or think about it anymore. I know sir that I have sinned, and this is why am the first from the tribes of the north to come and meet you today.

The very people treating you harshly today, will be the very people who will need your help and once you forgive them, you will shine a great light in their life and they will get to know how ignorant and wrong they were.

That's why Jesus said, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you so that you will be the children of your heavenly father.

for he makes rain fall on both good and bad people alike. (Matthew 5:44)

How did Elisha handle such people?

The very thing happened to Elisha, some group of silly young men kept following him and saying, Go bold head go, Elisha turned and cursed them and in a few seconds something strange happened and they were all dead. (2 kings 2:23)

David was anointed by God and if he had just turned and cursed the guy, shimei would perish soon but he didn't. Instead he welcomed him into his kingdom.

Now you will have to choose, will you follow Elisha and destroy or follow David and preserve.

Let's look into Jesus our teacher and mentor.

When Jesus went to Samaria, the people didn't welcome him, instead they made up their mind and pretended to be very busy. The desciples were annoyed and they said, Lord allow us to call fire from heaven to consume all these people.

But Jesus answered, you don't know what manner of spirit you are. The son of man did not come to destroy life but to save. [Luke 9:56-59]

Afterwards, some of these people became one of Jesus' strongest followers through the apostles.

So I tell you now, give people time they will get to know the truth and they will become your best.

Why Jesus said we should pray for our enemies.

We are leaving in a tough moment, the people you would wish to change might not change if you don't pray for them. They won't get to know the truth in the gospel and so change their mindset.

This is because the gospel is hidden to them, not that they don't see or find it but they just don't understand it. If they understand, they understand error. That's why Paul said in his letter to the Corinthians

2 Corinthians 4:3-4

"But if our gospel be hid, it is hid to them that are lost: In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine into them.

The devil doesn't want them to know or understand this goespel, because if they do, their life will be completely different.

Today, I want you to pray for someone despite of what he did to you so that the mind of his understanding of Gods word may be opened

People don't fail to believe the gospel because they are sure it's "not true", no they just don't understand it because a certain spirit has blinded the mind of their understanding.

That's why you have to pray for them.

Pray even for the preacher's because some of them also don't understand these things and cause people to be in bondages, pray for them too that they might have a perfect understanding of God's word and they will teach people the Truth.

Mention their names in your prayers, asking the good lord to forgive them and open the minds of their understanding and soon you will see a great change.

God bless you...

Admonition

2 Peter 3:9

"The Lord is not slow to do what he has promised, as some think. Instead, he is patient with you, because he does not want anyone to be destroyed, but wants all to turn away from their sins."

Prayer

Lord God of heaven and earth, I thank you for your loving kindness that made you to forgive and rub off my sins, may you do so in the life of everyone who has done wrong, opening their minds and bringing them to the full knowledge of your grace. In Jesus name I pray. Amen
