This doesn’t mean that he was just looking like God but also had some of the abilities God has, which made him be like God. That’s why he had full control over the earth and all things in it.
When God told Adam that when they disobay his word and eat the forbidden fruit they would die, they thought God meant the physical death. But He meant the spiritual death.
So when Man transgressed, he died spiritually. Therefore since God is a spirit(John 4:24), man could not relate with God in the flesh, so the relationship became complicated. Hence Man fell short of the glory of God. (Romans 3:21)
That was when things like mosquitoes started becoming a problem to human beings, things like bed bags, poverty, lions, snakes, viruses, bacteria, demons, etc, became a big problem to human beings.
⁴ But because of his great love for us, God, who is rich in mercy, made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in transgressions—it is by grace you have been saved. ~ Ephesians 2:4-5 NIV ~
So God sent Jesus Christ to restore us back to our previous glory.
That’s why the scriptures say, you have to be born again.
John 3:3 Jesus answered and said to him, “Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.”
You have to be born of the spiritual life that was once dead, so that you can relate with God like Adam used to.
He used to speak with God face to face but this was possible because he was spiritually alive.
When he died spiritually, the whole story changed.
Jesus came to change this story and bring glory back to us again.

Receive Christ Jesus and claim back your glory. Hallelujah
Prayer
Heavenly father, I thank you because you have granted unto me all the glory that I once lost because of disobedience. In Christ Jesus is my glory. Thank you my Lord and savior.
